Chief Technology Officer
David Malone serves as the Chief Technology Officer for the Shoaibi Group. In this capacity he will lead the group investment activities in Oil and Gas Technology that is appropriate for the MENA markets. In addition he will assist Shoaibi Group portfolio companies in their technology and business development activities.
Prior to joining the group Mr. Malone worked for more than 26 years at Schlumberger. Most recently he served four years as a Portfolio Manager for the Corporate Development Group in Houston where his primary objective was to identify and acquire technology based businesses matching the strategic needs of Schlumberger. Some of his projects included the acquisition of Nexus Geosciences, Insensys Subsea Sensing systems and Raytheon' s heavy oil conversion technology. In addition he managed the divestment of Schlumberger's drilling business in Gabon and established joint ventures or equity investments in New Tech Engineering and Advanced Completions Technology.
Prior to his assignment in Corporate Development Mr. Malone worked for 17 years in Research, Product Development, Business Development and Manufacturing. His most recent assignments include: Vice President of Research, Product Development and Manufacturing for WesternGeco (includes acquisition and data processing worldwide); Vice President of Research and Development for Well Completions and Productivity (includes Testing, Artificial lift (Reda), Subsea Intervention and Completions); and Vice President of Research and Development for the Camco family of companies after the acquisition of Camco by Schlumberger in 1998.
The remainder of Mr. Malone's career include positions in manufacturing, business development, and R&D management in the Drilling and Measurement and Wireline division of Schlumberger where he was instrumental in the development and introduction of Schlumberger's MWD (Measurement While Drilling), LWD (Logging While Drilling), directional drilling, multi-lateral, coiled tubing drilling, slickline services, wireline cable and wireline conveyance systems. Mr. Malone joined Schlumberger as an MWD Field Engineer in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. Malone holds 22 patents in the MWD, LWD, Directional Drilling, Seismic and Completions domains. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Association for Corporate Growth. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky.
